The Once and for All Biofuel Solution to the Marine Industry’s Quest for Meeting the Standards of IMO, ECA and EU Fit-for-55

What is GRIN MARIN?

GRIN MARIN is the once and for all biofuel solution for dropping all emissions of a vessel, according even to the strictest 2050 restrictions (IMO, ECA, EU), designed and produced by Tailors.

It is a NEAR ZERO CARBON synthetic ester-type biofuel that meets directly with the ISO8217:2017 DMx fossil fuel standards.

It is drop-in, meaning that it can be blended with VLSFO or HFO without any change in the engine or the logistics chain.

It has an MGO-alike calorific value of 42+ MJ/kg.

All its tests showed drops in all emissions by up to 92% (GHG, NOx, SOx, pm etc) against VLSFO, HFO, MGO.

How About Emissions Drop?

GRIN MARIN has been duly tested in several types of engines.

The last campaign, lasting five months, was made from world renown www.certh.gr labs, where GRIN MARIN demonstrated remarkable combustion behavior against VLSFO and MGO 0,1.

Indicatively, it drops GHG emissions by 92%, as it is made with 100% renewable raw material and energy, according to the ISCC mass balance calculations.

Furthermore, it dropped SO2 by 96%, N2O by 86%, particulate matters by 97% and so on... (CERTH 2024)

How was GRIN MARIN Developed

GRIN MARIN took 8 years to realize, capitalizing on Tailors’ long industrial biofuels experience.

It is designed specifically for the needs of the marine industry, from a team of in-house Tailors Group chemists and engineers.

It has already been produced at factory scale. First commercial application is expected for March 2025, with the Ritsona factory capacity standing at 10k MT/year. Our 2026 upgrade to 40k MT of GRIN MARIN produced per year, is planned for our second production site.

By 2029, and with Air Liquire technology, we plan for a yearly production of 150k MT.
